About us
Solidarite des Travailleurs Engages pour le Developpement (SOTED), a non-profit organization
created on August 14, 2021, and incorporated on February 28, 2022, was a response to the devastating earthquake that hit the whole southern part of Haiti. SOTED wants to serve the forgotten populations in remote areas of Haiti. However, it has chosen to implement its first activities in the fourth Section of Port-Salut.
The 4th Section of Port-Salut is made of several rural districts, among others, Vigie, Boucan,
Douyon, Babois, and others. It is limited in the east by Welch Mountain, in the west by Port-Salut, in the north by Arniquet, and in the south by Morne Brilleux.
At the moment SOTED is building houses for needy families in the rural district of Boucan. In that area, it plans on building other houses, a health clinic, a Technical and Vocational school which will be used as a shelter in case of a natural disaster, a community and recreational center, and others. These constructions are conceived to withstand earthquakes and hurricanes.
Drinking water and energy are two other challenges in the region. People must go far away to get water and the electricity is nonexistent. As a result, SOTED intends to bring potable water to each home and use renewable energy to provide the inhabitants with solar power.
